A
major emphasis of the Eastpointe Vision is focused on OTHERS. What can we do for others? Although there are many needs in our
community and around the globe, Eastpointe Community Church is called to make
an impact in the community they live in and on world that surrounds them. The OTHERS FOCUS is about serving and
helping with practical needs.
One
way Eastpointe put a FOCUS on OTHERS is through friendship evangelism. Several times a year, the members of
Eastpointe are challenged to build relationships with those who do not know God
or not attending a church. They
are encouraged to invite their family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to
one of these special “Friend Day” weekends planned with OTHERS in mind.
Other
ways Eastpointe is making an impact is through its Community Transformation
Efforts.
Coats for Kids
For
the last 4 years, Eastpointe has made a tremendous impact on underprivileged
kids in East OKC. The dream
started several years ago when Pastor Shon was in a meeting with a school
counselor from a nearby elementary school. Through the meeting, every year Eastpointe puts emphasis on
raising money to purchase coats for kids.
The annual SummerFest, which takes place every August, is always the
kick-off to raising money for coats.

The
first year, Eastpointe was able to partner with 1 elementary school in
purchasing 30-35 coats for elementary students. The next year, the scope grew and Eastpointe was able to
reach out to 100 students in local elementary schools. In the fall of 2007, the vision grew
larger than Eastpointe would have ever expected --- almost 300 coats were
purchased and given to all of the Mid-Del elementary schools, some schools
outside of the Mid-Del school district, and the Oklahoma City Indian
clinic.
To
date in 2008, the vision at Eastpointe continues to increase. Coats for Kids has been able to reach
560 kids with warm coats for the winter months in Okc. Over the next few years, the doors have
already opened wider. We are
praying the vision will continue to grow and spread over the region. For a donation, mark your gift “Coats

Teen Pregnancy Prevention
Another
major emphasis that is on Pastor Shon & Rachel’s heart is ---- teenage
pregnancy. After dealing with this issue themselves when they were married, Pastor Shon & Rachel have been praying and planning for
years now to see the day when Eastpointe could offer help and hope in a
tangible way. NOW, the time has
come. There are plans already in
motion of reaching out to our community to help teenagers girls prepare for
motherhood.
Holiday Food Baskets
Every
year during the holiday seasons, many have to go without while others are
blessed beyond measure. One of the
passions of Eastpointe Community Church is to serve the community in a simple,
yet heart-warming way, by giving food baskets for those in need. This past Thanksgiving & Christmas
season Eastpointe gave out 66 food baskets that fed 111 adults & 160 kids.
